WBBL Signing: Leeson secures spot with Stars

The Melbourne Stars have just two list spots remaining for WBBL|12 after securing the signature of experienced all-rounder Carly Leeson.

Leeson has played 56 WBBL matches across seven seasons, representing the Sydney Sixers, Melbourne Renegades and Perth Scorchers.

The 27-year-old has a Big Bash high score of 52 with the bat, while also taking 22 wickets with her medium pace.

General Manager of the Melbourne Stars, James Rosengarten, is excited to land a player of her calibre on the eve of the season.

“Carly is going to be a terrific addition to our squad this season and we’re really looking forward to seeing what she can contribute to the team,” Rosengarten said.

“Her skills complement our squad nicely and we know what she is capable of with the bat.

“She has plenty of experience in this competition which is always an asset both on and off the field.”

Leeson has made a strong first impression in green, starring in the club’s T20 Spring Challenge last week.

Proving her value with both bat and ball, Leeson made scores of 27 and 23*, as well as claiming 3/25 and 2/24.

The Stars’ full 15-player squad is set to be finalised in the next week, ahead of the WBBL|12 season opener at the Junction Oval on October 29.
