WBBL Signing: Young Star to wear green

The Melbourne Stars have added a new name to their squad for Weber WBBL|12, with young all-rounder Zoe Samuel signing with the club.

This season will mark Samuel’s first in the WBBL, after the 19-year-old impressed in three T20 Spring Challenge matches for the Melbourne Renegades last season.

The all-rounder produced best figures of 2/15 in that tournament, while she made a top score of 33 in her debut WNCL season for Victoria last summer and blasted 43 off 19 balls in her first game of this season’s T20 Max.

“It’s always exciting to add young local talent to your squad - especially fierce competitors like Zoe,” Melbourne Stars General Manager, James Rosengarten, said.

“Zoe is a really impressive player who we have seen perform for Victoria, and she has shown she is ready for an opportunity at this level.

“She is a very skilled and consistent bowler, so she will add another seam-up option to our mix, and she will contribute with the bat as well.”

Samuel’s addition brings versatility to the squad, while also introducing a bright prospect for the future.

Samuel is the 10th player to receive a contract for the Stars in 2026, with five signings still to be announced ahead of the club’s Weber WBBL|12 season opener at the Junction Oval on Thursday, October 29.
