The Melbourne Stars have added a third international player to their list for Weber WBBL|12, with England’s vice-captain Charlie Dean signing with the club.
Dean, who captained England’s ODI team earlier this month, will be making her first appearance in the Big Bash when she arrives in Melbourne.
At just 25 years of age, the off-spinner has already been on the international scene for five years, with 59 ODIs, 58 T20Is and three Test matches under her belt.
Dean has taken 77 T20 wickets on the global stage for England, averaging 18.32 with the ball.
She is also a reliable option with the bat, boasting a highest international score of 47* in a One Day match against South Africa.
“I can’t wait to get started with the Stars and play in the Big Bash for the first time,” Dean said.
“It’s such a high standard competition and the timing is right for me to be a part of it this season.
“I know a lot of the Stars girls already and I think the playing group is looking really strong.
“It should be a lot of fun and hopefully we can have some success.”
Dean will be joining English teammates Dani Gibson and Amy Jones – who recommitted to the club on Tuesday – in green this summer.
The Stars have filled nine of their 15 contract spots for the upcoming WBBL season, with all three international signings finalised.
