In a major move ahead of KFC BBL|16, the Melbourne Stars have secured power-hitting batsman Finn Allen as an international player.
Allen, who has played 62 T20 matches for New Zealand, was the leading run scorer of BBL|15, blasting 466 runs at an average of 42.36 for the Perth Scorchers.
The 27-year-old’s move to Melbourne will be one of the biggest this off-season, as he joins a star-studded batting line-up with the likes of Marcus Stoinis, Glenn Maxwell and Sam Harper.
“The Stars are a powerhouse team in this competition, so it’s going to be a lot of fun playing for them,” Allen said.
“They’ve already got a huge fanbase and they’re only getting bigger, and I can’t wait to be a part of that.
“I think all cricketers love playing at the MCG, so to be able to call that my home ground now is really exciting.”
Allen will be adding to an impressive highlights reel when he pulls on green this summer, having already scored some memorable centuries in 2026.
The opening batsman made 101 off 53 balls for the Scorchers in the BBL earlier this year, before smashing the fastest World Cup ton off just 33 balls in New Zealand’s semi-final win over South Africa.
Proving his value all around the world, Allen then hit 100* off 47 balls for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL.
He is fresh off a Major League Cricket campaign with the San Francisco Unicorns, where he was coached by the new Stars head coach, Cameron White.
Under the Big Bash League’s new player signing rules, the Stars can directly sign up to three international players, with no Overseas Player Draft this year.
Allen becomes the 12th player contracted to the Stars for the upcoming season, with six list spots remaining.
