Boundaries4Bushlands: Every Run Counts as the Stars Go Greener with Intrepid Travel This Summer

The Melbourne Stars are excited to launch Boundaries4Bushlands, a new Team Green sustainability initiative in partnership with Intrepid Travel, that will see a tree planted for every run scored by the Stars throughout the 2025/26 summer of cricket.

The campaign will officially launch at the start of the Weber WBBL|11 season, with Melbourne hosting the Adelaide Strikers at the CitiPower Centre on Monday, 10 November, and will feature in all nine of the Stars’ home matches across both competitions.

Boundaries4Bushlands, a collaborative initiative with Intrepid’s not-for-profit arm, the Intrepid Foundation and its partner, Greening Australia, will restore vital native bushland across Victoria, including in the Strzelecki Ranges in Gippsland, an important habitat for the rare and at-risk Strzelecki Koala.

Every run scored at home games by the Stars’ WBBL and BBL teams this season will directly contribute to native tree planting, with the total tally tracked live across the summer. Fans will be able to follow a Green Meter on matchday and post-game updates, showing just how many runs (and trees) the Stars have scored for the planet.

Building on Team Green

Boundaries4Bushlands builds on the club’s wider sustainability program, Team Green, which brings together all environmental initiatives under the Stars banner. It complements recent announcements, including the Melbourne Stars’ partnership with Victoria’s Container Deposit Scheme, reinforcing the club’s commitment to reducing its environmental impact and promoting sustainable practices.

Fans attending WBBL matches at the CitiPower Centre or BBL fixtures at the MCG will see Boundaries4Bushlands brought to life across the full gameday experience, including LED and big screen milestones, live progress updates, and interactive digital competitions. This will provide supporters even more fun ways to get involved and help plant trees throughout the summer.

Score Runs. Plant Trees. Win Prizes.

As part of the campaign, fans will have the chance to win prizes ahead of each home match by guessing the number of runs scored (and trees planted) by the Stars.

At the end of the season, one lucky fan will win the major prize, an Australian adventure for two with Intrepid Travel, including flights, showcasing some of the country’s most spectacular natural landscapes.

A Partnership Grounded in Purpose

Melbourne Stars General Manager, Max Abbott, said the initiative is a proud example of the club’s commitment to sustainability and the impact sport can have in driving positive change.

“We’re thrilled to launch Boundaries4Bushlands with Intrepid Travel and Greening Australia,” Abbot said.

“Every run we score at home games this summer will leave a lasting mark well beyond the boundary line.

“It’s another step forward in our Team Green journey, and we can’t wait to see our fans rally behind the idea and track the impact as the runs, and trees, pile up.”

Intrepid Travel’s General Manager Sales and Marketing ANZ, Yvette Thompson, said the campaign is a powerful example of how sport can drive positive and lasting change.

“As a certified B Corp, Intrepid believes in using business as a force for good, and in leaving the world in a better place than we found it for future generations to explore,” Thompson said.

“Boundaries4Bushlands brings that philosophy to life in a fun and tangible way.

“For every run the Stars score, we’re helping restore native habitats right here in Victoria, connecting fans, sport and conservation – three things we know Aussies are passionate about.”

The Summer Ahead

The Boundaries4Bushlands campaign will continue across both WBBL and BBL seasons, with the Stars and Intrepid teaming up to unveil new ways to ‘score runs and plant trees as the summer unfolds.

Boundaries4Bushlands promises to be a celebration of cricket, conservation, and community.
