The Melbourne Stars have re-signed spin-bowling duo Maisy Gibson and Sasha Moloney ahead of WBBL|11.
The pair, who were both a part of the club’s 2024 campaign, will feature in green again this summer, following strong individual performances at the T20 Spring Challenge.
After spending seven seasons with the Hobart Hurricanes, Moloney has been a member of the Stars’ playing group for the past three years, showcasing her value with both bat and ball in hand.
The 33-year-old off-spinner has taken 43 wickets at an average of 23.65 across her 43 WBBL matches, while also boasting a highest score of 39 with the bat.
Gibson’s re-signing comes after playing nine games in her first season with the Stars in 2024.
At 29 years of age, Gibson returns with a wealth of experience, having won the inaugural WBBL trophy with the Sydney Thunder, while also spending three years at the Hurricanes.
Gibson is a crafty leg-spinner who has taken 72 wickets at an average of 21.91 across 85 matches at the level.
The return of both Moloney and Gibson will add great depth to the Stars’ spin bowling stocks in 2025.
Melbourne has one spot remaining on its list for WBBL|11, with the squad to be finalised next week ahead of the opening game of the season: Melbourne Stars v Adelaide Strikers - Monday, November 10 at CitiPower Centre.
