Stars name squad of 14 for Top End T20

The Melbourne Stars have announced a squad of 14 players for the upcoming Top End T20 tournament to be held in Darwin in August.

It will be the fourth time the Stars have sent their Academy side to the Northern Territory with this year’s edition seeing teams from the Strikers, Scorchers, Renegades, Hurricanes, ACT, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Nepal compete.

The Stars Academy will play 6 games over 9 days with several BBL|15 contracted players in action too.

With list spots still to be finalised for BBL|15, the competition will provide another important platform for the next generation of Stars players to prove their worth against some of the best T20 players in the nation.

Melbourne Stars T20 High Performance Manager Clint McKay will coach the side and be supported by Stars batting coach, Ben Rohrer.

“I’d like to thank NT Cricket who have been wonderful organisers of the Top End T20 and having experienced the tournament previously, it continues to grow and expand every year which is a credit to the work they have put in,” said McKay.

“Our younger players have a wonderful opportunity to put their hand up for a BBL|15 contract and it provides a perfect chance to get some invaluable time in the middle, in tournament conditions in the middle of a Melbourne winter.”
