Stars Abroad: Maxwell and Stoinis face-off in MLC Finals

Stars duo Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis will turn from friends to foes this week, when their side’s go head-to-head in Wednesday’s opening MLC qualifying match after Washington and Texas finished first and second in the season standings.

Maxwell will enter the game in hot form after an impressive bowling performance (3/29) powered the Washington Freedom to a six-wicket win over MI New York, sealing a top two finish, while Marcus Stoinis captured 1/23 in Texas’ convincing 51-run win over the Seattle Orcas.

The LA Knight Riders will take on the San Francisco Unicorns in the other qualifying final, Unfortunately, the competition’s leading wicket-taker, Haris Rauf suffered a Grade 1 hamstring injury during Unicorns’ recent match against the Super Kings and has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2025 Major League Cricket season.

Meanwhile, Campbell Kellaway’s Australia A side went 1 from 2 against Sri Lanka A, with Kellaway scoring 20 and 11 in the opening two matches.
