Garth signs for WBBL|11

Melbourne Stars fast bowler Kim Garth has signed a new one-year deal with the club.

Garth, now a veteran of the Stars and the Australian Women’s Cricket Team, has committed until the end of WBBL|11.

Garth began her Stars career in WBBL|07 after previous stints at the Perth Scorchers and Sydney Sixers and has since become one of the leaders of the bowling attack.

With her ability to open the bowling and move the ball both ways, Garth has taken 36 wickets for the Stars and possesses one of the best economy rates in the competition over the last four years.

“Kim has become a key pillar in our bowling attack and was one of the most important targets for us to re-sign for WBBL|11,” T20 High Performance Manager Clint McKay said.

“With herself, Marizanne Kapp and Annabel Sutherland leading our pace attack, we believe we have one of the strongest fast bowling groups in the WBBL and we’re excited to see what they can produce together later this year.”

Garth, 29, will play her 50th Stars game in WBBL|11 in what will be her seventh season in the competition.

“I’m really excited to re-sign with the Stars and am looking forward to WBBL|11 already,” Garth said.

“There’s no doubt we have underachieved over the past couple of seasons but I’m extremely motivated to drive this group back to the top of the table and back into the WBBL Finals.”
