McKay commences in new role

Clint McKay has this week commenced in his new role at the Melbourne Stars as T20 High Performance Manager.

McKay bring a wealth of experience to the role having represented Australia in all three formats of the game. Since his retirement, McKay has built his coaching resume, having served as Bowling Coach of the Stars BBL and WBBL teams, as well as becoming part of Australia’s extended coaching staff in recent years.

McKay’s duties will include talent identification and program development across both men’s and women’s T20 programs as well as list management strategy. McKay will continue in his role as the Stars BBL Bowling Coach for BBL|14 and will also return to his role as the Stars’ WBBL Bowling Coach for WBBL|10.

“It’s an exciting opportunity to be able to build a program that focusses on specific T20 skills to ensure we are giving Victorian players the best opportunity to maximise their talents within that format of the game,” McKay said.

“I’m passionate about helping our current Stars work on specific areas of their game throughout the off season so we can be best prepared for WBBL|10 and BBL|14 later this year.”

After an extensive search, Melbourne Stars General Manager Blair Crouch was thrilled to appoint someone of McKay’s calibre and experience who understands the club.

“Clint’s years of experience as a player and a coach of the Melbourne Stars have served him well and he is the perfect candidate to develop our T20 program.

“Clint has a great connection with the current playing groups of both squads and his recent experience with the Australian team has only added to his knowledge base.

“We’re looking forward to him creating a program to focus on identifying and developing T20 talent within the Victorian system to ultimately benefit the Stars.”
