Preview - WBBL is back!

Recap: WBBL|03

It was a hard-fought season for the Stars in WBBL|03, and we finished with five wins and nine losses. Two of our wins were against Melbourne rivals, the Renegades, so the girls in green remain hometown champions heading into the new season. There were some nail-biting finishes over the past season, including a super-over against the Renegades, in which the Stars won on boundary countback! The girls are confident heading into WBBL|04 that the experience of last season will help get them over the line during those tight matches.

The New Kids on the Block

Four new faces join the Stars for WBBL|04: Angela Reakes, Nicola Hancock, Elly Donald and Holly Ferling.

Angela Reakes has had a wealth of cricket experience already, having captained the New South Wales under-15, under-17 and under-18 teams. She also represented Australia in their Youth team. She comes over to Victoria after playing for the Sixers since WBBL|01.

Nicola Hancock returns to Victoria after playing for the Hobart Hurricanes during WBBL|03. Nicola was born in Victoria and played for the Renegades before moving to play in the WNCL for the ACT Meteors. She plays alongside fellow Stars Katie Mack, Angela Reakes and Erin Osborne, and has settled into the team nicely.

Elly Donald is playing her debut season in the WBBL after an impressive season playing for the Melbourne Cricket Club. Stars women’s coach David Hemp has labelled her an “upcoming all-rounder” and will add to both our batting and our pace bowling.

Holly Ferling becomes a Star after a stellar three seasons with the Brisbane Heat. The 22-year-old snagged 17 wickets in 25 matches up in Brisbane, including best figures of 4-8! She’s now looking to make an impact down south.
