A promising young ‘keeper-batsman’, Seb Gotch is moving into his fourth consecutive season as part of the Stars family and will be looking to kick on from what was a successful campaign for him in BBL|08, where he picked up handy runs when out in the middle.
Gotch has been a consistent Big Bash performer and has become a solid part of the Stars team in the 18 BBL games he has played, having hit 279 BBL runs at a strong strike rate of 108.31. Gotch provides variety, and his wicket keeping capabilities are an asset to the squad over the course of a campaign.
Playing ten matches during last season’s BBL|08, Gotch knocked 128 runs at a strike rate 113.27 – a strong return for the wicket keeper batsman, who also took four catches and one stumping when wearing the gloves.
The right-hander has shown good promise in recent seasons in 50 over cricket, posting a first-class half-century for Victoria to suggest some bigger scores will come with more opportunities with the bat.
A promising junior footballer with the Oakleigh Chargers, Gotch decided to concentrate on his cricket and soon captained an Australian Under 19 team. Gotch is the son of former Fitzroy and St Kilda footballer and veteran VFL coach, Brad.
