A rapid Australian international bowler who has the speed and ability to light up the track for the Stars this summer, after joining from the Perth Scorchers ahead of the BBL|09 campaign.
The Stars family can look forward to seeing Nathan Coulter-Nile’s blistering bowling pace give nightmares to opposing players, and his hard-hitting batting providing the team with much-needed runs from down the order.
The right-arm quick bowler’s Big Bash figures are exciting and impressive and in the 38 matches he played for the Scorchers, he took 46 wickets with best figures of 3-9. Not only that, he’s dangerous with the bat and adds depth to the order, having scored 285 runs during his time at the Western Australian team with a BBL personal best of 42 not out.
The BBL|08 campaign was particularly strong for Coulter-Nile, with the 31-year-old taking 14 wickets at a strike rate of 21.8 in 13 matches. His best performance of the season came against the Brisbane Heat, where he walked away with figures of 3-25; one of two matches that season where he took three wickets in a game.
In just seven knocks, the Western Australian also bashed 102 runs during the BBL|08 campaign at an average of 20.40. His highest score of 31 not out against the Hobart Hurricanes was a particularly impressive innings, not to mention his season batting strike rate of 164.51, which was the highest of any Perth Scorchers player for that season.
Coulter-Nile has also represented Australia on multiple occasions in the T20 and One Day format of the game, including in England during the 2019 Cricket World Cup, giving him big-game experience that could be key in the Stars pursuit for a maiden Big Bash winning title.
