We've made three changes to our 13-player squad ahead of their clash with the Perth Scorchers at the MCG. Nic Maddinson is in line to make his Melbourne Stars debut after recovering from a fractured arm suffered in early December during a JLT Sheffield Shield match, while young Victorian duo Jonathan Merlo and Tom O'Connell have also been named. Car: Parking is available around the area, but we would recommend taking public transport to this fun summer day at the MCG!
Yarra park is also open for parking for $10, and the gate times are as follows:
- Gate 3 - open to public at 3pm
- Gate 5 - open to public at 4pm
- Gate 6 & Gate 7 - Closed
Train: There are two train stations near the MCG – Jolimont and Richmond.
If you are travelling to the MCG via the Hurstbridge or Mernda lines, get off at Jolimont.
If you are travelling via the Lilydale, Alamein, Frankston, Glen Waverley, Dandenong, Pakenham, Cranbourne or Sandringham lines, you can get off at Richmond.
The MCG is a short walk from either of these stations.
Tram: There are 3 tram routes that will get you to the MCG.
- Route 75 (City – Vermont South)
- Route 48 (Docklands/City – North Balwyn)
- Route 70 (Docklands/City – Wattle Park)
Each of these tram stops is a short walk to the ground.
Bus: The Route 246 (Elsternwick – Clifton Hill via St Kilda) stops along Punt road, which a short walk from the ground.
Taxi: Taxi ranks will be available after the match, otherwise the ground is a pleasant 15-minute walk from the city. If you wish to hail a taxi, there are three ranks located near the MCG:
- Pullman Hotel (corner of Clarendon street and Wellington parade)
- On Olympic Boulevard outside Rod Laver arena
- Jolimont Terrace
