The Melbourne Stars has secured the future of its playing list, after agreeing to a two year contract with Victorian rising star Seb Gotch for the KFC BBL|05 season, as well as securing renewed contracts with John Hastings, Glenn Maxwell and Peter Handscomb.
John Hastings, who has been with the Stars since inception, has signed on until the end of BBL|08, while Maxwell and Handscomb have both committed to the Stars until the end of BBL|07.
The announcement comes as the Stars assemble at the MCG in preparation for the team's first hit-out for the season, an exhibition match at Geelong's Simonds Stadium against cross town rivals, the Renegades.
Seb Gotch said he was looking forward to learning from some of the experienced players and coaches at the Stars this year and was excited by the mix of local and international players in the team.
"It's a great list, we have a lot of depth in the bowling and some really good batters. As we know, in Twenty20 it's always the depth that gets you though, and we have that at the Stars so it's really exciting," said Gotch.
A provisional 13-player squad has been named for tomorrow night's exhibition match in Geelong:

While Gotch has not been named in the exhibition match squad, he will travel to Geelong with the rest of the team and will look to push for selection during the season.
