Sutherland Shines on debut

09 January 2018

Annabel Sutherland took 4-20 from four overs in today's loss to the Strikers.

The Stars won the toss and chose to bat first against the Strikers at Adelaide Oval, with captain Kristen Beams returning to the line-up, while allrounder Annabel Sutherland included for her first game for the Stars.

Player-of-the-match Georgia Elwiss and Gemma Triscari were the two out from Saturday's winning line-up.

Lizelle Lee (52 off 52) and Katie Mack (42 off 34) gave the Stars a steady start, putting on 69 runs for the opening partnership, which lasted 11 overs, en route to a total of 5-132.

In reply, the Strikers started well but Beams took the wicket of Suzie Bated with her first ball of her first over.

The Strikers steadied the ship until Sutherland took a wicket with her first delivery, and had a second just two legal deliveries later, following a wide on her second ball. At one stage, she was 3-2 in the second over of her spell, and she finished with an excellent 4-20 in her first game for the Stars, after crossing from the Renegades, where she played four games last season.

A four off the final ball of the innings saw the Strikers take a one wicket win with Tabatha Saville finishing with an unbeaten 28 off 27 and player-of-the-match honours.
