Captain Meg Lanning won the bat flip and elected to bowl first. For the first time in WBBL|06 for the Stars, rain did not pose a threat to the match.
Nat Sciver (2-34) and Alana King (2-23) were the pick of the Stars bowlers, although the Strikers managed to get away from the team in green late in their innings to post a competitive total of 6-154. Striker Laura Wolvaardt the top scorer with 68 runs off 50 balls.
The Stars run chase started with a blast - Elyse Villani picking up where she left off last game - blasting 43 runs from just 28 balls which included three consecutive boundaries.
Once Villani was back in the sheds, captain Meg Lanning moved into the driver's seat and, with the help of Mignon Du Preez (31 off 26), played yet another world class innings to guide the Stars to within an inch of victory.
Lanning was dismissed in the final over however, caught in the deep for 69 (off 58), and the run chase took a late twist. Luckily, Nat Sciver stepped up with a few balls to spare, and smashed a six down the ground to secure the win.
The Stars now sit on top on the WBBL|06 table, and will next face the Perth Scorchers on Saturday 7 November.
