Annabel Sutherland’s second WBBL half-century led the Stars to post 3/139, looking for their first win of the tournament.
The new opener reached the boundary nine times in her 50-ball knock of 57.
Sutherland was supported by cameos from England international Maia Bouchier and Irish international Kim Garth who combined for an unbroken partnership of 51.
It was the young bowling group that secured the points for the Stars, restricting the Sixers to just 109 runs.
The Stars got off to the perfect start with Garth taking the wicket of Shafali Verma with the third ball of the innings.
Garth finished with the figures of 3/17 from her four overs.
Tess Flintoff made it tough for the Sixers by taking back-to-back wickets in the 15th over before Ange Reakes kept out the hattrick ball.
Annabel Sutherland was named player of the match for her knock of 57 and wicket of Alyssa Healy.
The Stars next face the Brisbane Heat on Saturday afternoon.
