Stars go down to Renegades at MCG

The Melbourne Stars have suffered a six wicket loss to the Melbourne Renegades at the MCG.

After losing the toss and being sent into bat, the Stars lost the wicket of Luke Wright (12) early.

A second-wicket stand of 78 from 41 balls from Ben Dunk and Kevin Pietersen saw the Stars at 1-82 halfway through the innings

Pietersen (40) and Dunk (47) were then dismissed with Glenn Maxwell (33) and Marcus Stoinis (24*) seeing the Stars to a total of 4-157.

In reply, the Renegades got off to start, putting on 43 runs before Jackson Coleman (who took 1-22 from four overs) picked up his first wicket in green, dismissing Marcus Harris for 8.

John Hastings took the most wickets with 2-24 however, the Renegades proved to be too good claiming a six wicket win with Mohammad Nabi top scoring with 52 off 30. 

The Stars will next face the Adelaide Strikers in Adelaide on January 9.
