The Melbourne Stars have suffered a two run in a nail-biter at the MCG.

The Hurricaness scored their second-highest score of the Rebel WBBL season, making 6-130 batting first, and restricted the Stars to 7-128 in reply.

Nicola Hancock took 2-22 from four overs, while Erin Osborne was the Stars' top scorer with 30.

The Stars needed 131 to win their final match of WBBL|03 after Hayley Matthews and Georgia Redmayne led an improved Hurricanes batting effort at the MCG.

Matthews scored 44, while Redmayne compiled 40 as Hobart scored 6-130 from their 20 overs. Erin Osborne impressed with the ball for the Stars, taking 3-23.

The Stars finished seventh on the ladder with five wins from 14 matches.
