Maxi stands up in Strikers loss

10 January 2018

Stars all-rounder Glenn Maxwell top-scored with 60 off 39 but it wasn’t enough as the Stars suffered an eight wicket loss to the Adelaide Strikers.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, the Stars got off to a shaky start losing 3-34 in the opening overs.

Marcus Stoinis was striking them well until he also departed on 39.

Glenn Maxwell came to the crease and stood up when the Stars needed him the most, compiling 60 including seven fours and one six taking the Stars to a total of 6-151.

In reply, the Strikers’ Alex Carey and Travis Head cruised their side to victory, scoring 59* off 52 and 53 off 32 respectively.

The Stars will next face the Melbourne Renegades in the return derby on Friday night.
