After a 0-2 start and having lost their past four matches against the Heat, the Stars will be more than hungry for a win in the New Year. Up against Brisbane’s ‘Bash Brothers,’ a home crowd and a returning KP could give the Stars the competitive boost they need.

13-player Squad: John Hastings (c), Michael Beer, Scott Boland, Liam Bowe, Ben Dunk, James Faulkner, Ewan Gulbis, Glenn Maxwell, Kevin Pietersen, Rob Quiney, Marcus Stoinis, Luke Wright, Adam Zampa

Players to watch

Fan favourite Kevin Pietersen returns to the Star’s line-up and will be looking to make a big impact in a crucial game. KP's inclusion will not only add extra batting experience to the squad, but should be a huge morale boost for his fellow teammates.

Marcus Stoinis had an extraordinary game against the Heat last time the two teams met. Redefining the term ‘allrounder,’ Stoinis became the first player to score a half-century and take three wickets in a BBL game, as well as scoring himself Man of the Match.

Michael Beer and James Faulkner have both had good starts to the season and will look to continue that form against the Heat.

Adam Zampa will be hoping to relish in the opportunity of bowling against the Heat by taking full advantage of the powerplay early, as well as challenging the Heat’s low strike-rate against spin bowling.

Last Time We Met

Brisbane Heat 7-206 def. Melbourne Stars 6-191 by 15 runs.

In the Stars' BBL|07 season opener, the Heat recorded a fifteen run victory over the Melbourne Stars. Despite a career-best effort from Stoinis, the Heat held on for victory in a match that featured 19 sixes. Stoinis struck an impressive 99 off 51 balls, before being run out just short of a century. Faulkner proved to be an impressive ally to Stoinis with the bat and finished 46 not out from 38.

Bowlers Michael Beer (2-21 from four) and Stoinis (3-38 from four) were effective, however the Heat were able to take full control of the contest early and proved to be too hard to chase.

The action kicks off at 7:10pm AEDT tonight- Stars fans this is a big one! Make sure you show your support for Team Green!
