Wright takes Player of the Season award

31 March 2017

In his sixth season as a Star, Luke Wright has been named the Melbourne Stars’ Player of the Season.

Best Batting Performance

Luke Wright’s highest score came in our final game at the MCG. Smashing 62 off 47 balls, Wrighty top-scored for the game and hit six fours and a six in the process. This score was the third best for one of our Stars in BBL|06, behind only Bobby and KP.

Best Partnership

The opening game of BBL|06 against the Hobart Hurricanes saw Wrighty and Bobby notch the highest partnership by runs for the club for the season. Making 88 runs together, the match saw Wrighty almost make a half-century, notching 48 off only 29 balls.

This season saw Wrighty became the first ever Stars player to reach 50 games. Reaching this feat in our match against the Brisbane Heat, this foundation Star also managed to mark the occasion with an unbeaten knock of 60 off 55 balls, proving why this Englishman is such a valued member of Team Green.
