With a close loss in our second game against the Brisbane Heat, our girls are ready and raring to go, determined to get back on that winners list.
We're excited to see the return of leg-spinner Kristen Beams, who comes into the squad for Danielle Hazell. Dani has now returned home and we thank her for outstanding work over the past few weeks.
Ultimate bragging rights for the best Big Bash team in the state are up for grabs tomorrow and we know we have to be at our best if we want to walk away winners.
Last time we took on the Renegades we only won by eight runs. The skipper had a great game (it’s hard to find a game where she doesn’t) top-scoring with 77* off 73 balls. Hayley Jensen took three wickets for 25 runs, with Emma Kearney and Gemma Triscari taking two wickets each.
With the Renegades also losing their last match, they will also be hunting for that win and a return to form. We think our girls will have them covered but it will be a tough fight. One thing we do know for certain – it is going to be one hell of a Derby!
“It’s really exciting and I think it’s the highlight of our season and we can’t wait for it. I think there’s been one game where we’ve pulled it all together but we would like to see that happen in a few more games and it would be good to see it all come together.” - Katie Mack
One to Watch
Hayley Jensen is our Star to watch this week. She has been steadily building over the past couple of matches and has been consistently taking wickets for #TeamGreen. We think that the Derby game might just prove her best yet, especially because of her standout performance last time we played the Renegades. Jensen took three wickets for 25 runs off her four overs – the best bowling figures for the game. Cleary she loves a big stage and the stage could not get any bigger than New Year’s Day at the MCG for the Melbourne Derby…
