Intro
James ‘Jimmy’ Faulkner will return to the Melbourne Stars after a phenomenal inaugural season, where he emerged as one of Australia’s next all-rounders.
The 22-year-old played a key role for the Stars in BBL|01 taking a team-high 13 wickets with his left-arm seamers – a tally that included a four-wicket haul against the Hobart Hurricanes - and scoring 73 runs with the bat.
Stellar performances with the ball led to his international debut in the two-match T20 series against India in January and also saw him earn a lucrative IPL contract with the Kings XI Punjab.
Born in Launceston to parents who both worked as teachers, Jimmy always wanted to be a cricketer. Despite having a mother and father as school teachers, it’s not surprising he still managed to get through school having a lot of fun and without doing much work.
The all-rounder added plenty of spark to the team and was undoubtedly one of the biggest characters of the change rooms during the Stars inaugural season. His cheeky and somewhat pest like nature ensured when he was around, no one was ever short of a laugh!
