James ‘Jimmy’ Faulkner continued his sensational record with the Melbourne Stars in BBL|02 bolstering his status as one of Australia’s rising all-rounders.

After leading the Stars last summer with 13 wickets, the 23-year-old claimed 11 scalps in BBL|02 – second only to Lasith Malinga – and was entrusted with the ball during the notoriously difficult ‘power play’ and death phases.

To top off his all-rounder credentials, Faulkner provided some handy cameos down the batting order, finishing with 71 runs for the tournament and earning selection for the Australian T20I squad in the two-match series against Sri Lanka.

The vivacious all-rounder relished his opportunity with the Rajasthan Royals in the sixth Pepsi Indian Premier League, from 15 games he took 27 scalps, including two amazing five wicket hauls.  He played a vital role for the Royals in the playoffs, helping them finish third in one of the best T20 competitions in the world.

The in-form Faulkner was selected in the Australian squads for the ICC Champions Trophy in England and the lively 23-year-old continued his unbelievable form for Australia in the recent VB One-Day International Tour of India when he blitzed India with both the bat and ball.

Faulkner steered the Australians to victory over India in the third match when he blasted an incredible 30 runs off the 48th over. Faulkner sent Ishant Sharma over the boundary with four sixes, one four and two in the game changing over.

He crushed 116 runs off 107 balls in the final ODI in Bangalore and is now the fastest Australian to reach 100 in the countries ODI history, it took him only 57 deliveries.

Faulkner has been rewarded for his outstanding form with a call up to the Ashes squad that will aim to reclaim the urn this summer, with the aim to play his first Test on home soil.

The 23-year-old adds plenty of spark to the team and is one of the characters of the change rooms. Faulkner is contracted with the Stars until BBL|05.
