The 2012-13 summer was a memorable one for Jackson Bird making his Test debut on Boxing Day at the MCG. The Tasmanian quick didn’t disappoint the Stars home crowd taking four wickets while wearing his new baggy green.
Once the Test series finished the talented quick and new ball specialist returned to the Melbourne Stars line up where he impressed with tidy spells claiming two wickets from his three matches.
He also took one of the catches of the tournament in the Stars do-or-die match against the Thunder swinging the game back in the green teams favour.
A tall right hander who bowls with great energy and at a lively pace - he will really complement our fast bowling unit.
Bird’s place as an integral cog in the Australian pace line-up was highlighted with his recent selection in the Ashes Squad during the series in the UK.
An existing lower back injury however, cut his Ashes series short and he returned to Australia early for rehabilitation.
He's been working hard to be at full strength and was recently in the nets bowling to the current Ashes squad as they prepare to reclaim the Urn on home soil.
Lucky for Melbourne Stars fans, this hot talent is contracted to the Stars next season ensuring you’ll see his fiery bowling again in BBL|03.
