Young and talented batsman and wicketkeeper Sam Harper made his debut for the Melbourne Stars in BBL|06 against the Hobart Hurricanes.
Playing five games in total this season, Harper’s keeping abilities were crucial with the absence of Peter Handscomb to national duties.
Harper’s highlight of the season was his catch to remove Thunder captain Shane Watson. Harper made a full body dive and flew through the air, clipping Glenn Maxwell with his foot on the way down and producing one of the catches of the season.
Earlier this season, Harper represented the Cricket Australia XI in the Matador Cup, with his highest score of 48 coming against Western Australia.
Harper also broke into Victoria’s Sheffield Shield squad late last season and exploded onto the scene with a record nine dismissals on debut, showing his capabilities at first-class level.
