Evan Gulbis

One of the surprise packets of BBL|05 was the emergence of Tasmanian all-rounder Evan Gulbis.

Gulbis got his chance for the Stars when a raft of Australian players left to play for their country, and he grabbed it with both hands.

He smacked 102 runs batting at number seven including a 61 not out against the Brisbane Heat.

It was Gulbis’first season in green having played previously with the Hobart Hurricanes.

Gulbis played 19 matches for the Hurricanes across the last three BBLs, and added five Melbourne Stars games to that tally in BBL|05.

The all-rounder was also called upon by Victoria in the Matador Cup (one-day competition) this season and plays for Prahran in Premier Cricket.
