Introduced in aid of the State Government’s initiative to encourage all Victorian’s to support gender equality in sport, VicHealth believes women in sport need to be promoted to try and encourage the next generation of girls to be our sporting heroes.
The Melbourne Stars’ Meg Lanning and Gemma Triscari are two of VicHealth’s ambassadors for their Change Our Game campaign.
As Team Green’s leading run-scorer and leading wicket-taker for WBBL|02, Lanning and Triscari are helping VicHealth break down the stereotypes of women’s sport and aim to show younger girls, and wider audiences, that females can be just as successful and elite in their sport regardless of gender.
There are more women in sport than ever before, with codes continuously changing and growing as can be seen by the evolving nature of the Women’s Big Bash League.
Women play pivotal roles in sports leadership positions within the media and as athletes, and VicHealth believes women’s sport should be as inclusive, equal and respected as much as the men’s codes.
