The Precinct Hotel teamed up with the Melbourne Stars on Wednesday night, hosting the Official Supporters Launch Party.
Passionate Stars fans were given the exclusive opportunity to watch the boys take on the Perth Scorchers while soaking up the Precinct’s brilliant atmosphere and hospitality.
Fans took advantage of the complimentary gourmet BBQ, before settling in to watch Malinga and the Stars tear through Perth’s batting order, and secure their first win of BBL|02.
In conjunction with official supplier Victoria Bitter, a raffle was held and a number of lucky fans took home a bunch of awesome prizes, including a signed Cricket Bat, a green VB Esky, VB beer glasses, green VB polo tops, and even pairs of VB Shoes.
Luke Darcy, owner of the Precinct Hotel, was delighted with the turn out and expressed his excitement for the summer ahead.
“Tonight’s been great“, said Darcy. “We really feel like we’re beautifully located near the MCG which is a great colosseum in the world of sport, so to watch an away game here and catch up with a lot of great people, it’s been terrific.”
“I’m really excited about the Twenty20 – it’s got a great place in Melbourne at the moment, there’s a lot of excitement built around the competition, and particularly with the Stars.”
“We love our relationship with the Melbourne Stars and I think it’s going to be a really exciting summer all round.”
Injured Stars all-rounder John Hastings also made an appearance, mingling with staff and supporters, all while keeping a close eye on his teammates on one of the many big screens around the Precinct's Beer Garden.
He said while it was frustrating not being out there playing, he enjoyed mixing it with the fans and relaxing at functions like this.
“Tonight’s been a winner,” Hastings said.
“I’ve had quite a few conversations with some of the fans and it surprises me how passionate they are with a new franchise just starting up.”
“It’s great to see.”
Janitha Katugampola is one of those fans.
Proudly showing off his Melbourne Stars colours, Janitha couldn’t have spoken highly enough of his team, and the night’s proceedings.
“It’s been a brilliant night,” he said.
“Getting all the supporters along together a great venue to cheer the boys on...there should be more nights like this.”
