The nine MCG fixtures includes three double-headers, with the first being the much-anticipated Melbourne double-header Derby against the Melbourne Renegades on Saturday, January 6, 2018.
Melbourne Stars Chief Executive, Clint Cooper, said that the club was looking forward to producing more family-fun entertainment at the MCG over the summer school holiday period and cementing the Stars as Melbourne's club.
“Our schedule provides members and fans with more access to Stars matches at the MCG this summer. We’re very excited to host our additional BBL home match at the home of the Stars as well as three double-headers and standalone BBL and WBBL games," Cooper said.
“We recorded strong attendances at the MCG last season and look forward to building on it this season. Melbourne is a sporting hub so to host more games here is really exciting and we have no doubt that our passionate members and fans will help us fill the ground."
The Stars will also feature in three WBBL broadcast matches on Network 10 with the remainder being live streamed on cricket.com.au.
The WBBL schedule begins with a standalone, blockbuster opening weekend with the Stars taking on the reigning champions, the Sydney Sixers under lights at North Sydney Oval on Saturday, December 9.
Meanwhile, the Stars’ men’s team will kick off their campaign against the Brisbane Heat on December 20 in Brisbane.
All of the Stars’ Melbourne based fixtures will be played in January.
